Pollution test to continue in offline, online mode till Dec 31

Bhubaneswar: Considering the long queue for pollution test, the Odisha government on Thursday allowed to continue pollution under control (PUC) test in both offline and online mode till December 31.

The validity of PUC certificates will continue till its expiry. Earlier, the government had banned the issuance of manual certificates by pollution testing units (PUTs) from October 1.

“It has been observed that very limited number of PUTs exist in many districts and there is long queue. Government is taking steps for opening more PTUs in all the districts.

Taking these issues into consideration and the long queues, it has been decided that PUCs will continue to be issued by both offline and online mode till December 31,” said the Transports department in a letter.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday addressed all collectors, SPs and RTOs to emphasise the need to educate and sensitise people on road safety issues and also increase awareness on the steps taken by transport officials to enhance services to meet the huge demand on LL etc.
