Death toll due to heavy rain in Odisha touches six


Bhubaneswar: The death toll in the heavy rains has touched to six in Odisha, said an official on Saturday.

Three fresh deaths reported from Ganjam, Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj districts since Friday, officials said.

A ten-month-old boy was killed and his parents were injured after a mud wall of their house collapsed at Bajraguma village in Ganjam district on Friday.

An 85-year-old man died in wall collapse incident at Aul area of Kendrapara district while a woman aged around 50 years in Rasgovindpur area of Mayurbhanj district also died in a similar incident, the official said.

Earlier, three were killed in the districts of Puri, Balasore and Keonjhar districts on Thursday.

Notably, Odisha has been battered by heavy rains since October 23 under the impact of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
