Odisha’s Anshuman Kamila tops IES exam 2019


Bhubaneswar: Anshuman Kamila from Bhubaneshwar has topped the Indian Economic Service (IES) Examination 2019, the results of which were announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday.

Anshuman is the son of former Chief Postmaster General (CPMG) of Odisha Santosh Kumar Kamila and Odissi vocalist and professor of Economics at Utkal University Mitali Chinara.

Anshuman ranked first among the 32 candidates who have qualified the IES exam 2019.

The IES main exam was held from June 28 to June 30, 2019, followed by interviews and personality test in December 2019 and January 2020.

Anshuman finished his AISSCE from DAV Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneshwar in 2011.

Kamila studied Economics (Hons) from St Stephen’s College, University of Delhi (gold medallist of the Department of economics and St Stephen’s Centenary Medal winner) and subsequently an MA in Economics from Delhi School of Economics (where he was Dr. Manmohan Singh Scholar). He did his M Phil in Economics from JNU.

Anshuman Kamila is currently a Manager in the Department of Economic and Policy Research of RBI.

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated Anshuman.

“Proud and Happy to know that Odia boy Shri Anshuman Kamila has topped the UPSC Indian Economic Service Examination 2019!,” he tweeted.

Anshuman, who is the son of former Post Master General of Odisha Shri Santosh Kamila and Smt. Mitalli Chinnara, Professor in Economics, Utkal University has continued the family tradition of bringing laurels to the State. Attaboy!, Pradhan tweeted.

He also congratulated all the candidates who have qualified Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2019.
