Odisha CM inaugurates ICC Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated the Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee (WEC) of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Odisha State Chapter here.

To mark this special occasion, the first mega Women’s Leadership Summit was also organised at the same venue and simultaneously inaugurated by the Chief Minister.

 “I am glad to know that Odisha became the first state to get ICC’s first women committee of the country. This committee is a diverse group of women entrepreneurs from various sectors who can collaborate and grow together,” said the Chief Minister.

“Our government has always given the emphasis on women empowerment through initiatives like Mission Sakhti, StartUp Odisha and Skilled in Odisha. Through Make in Odisha, we also encourage investment in Odisha,” he said.

During the event, 40 women entrepreneurs of the state were felicitated.

The ICC has formed a Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee to address the growing needs of women entrepreneurs and business leaders.

The Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee extends the ICC’s core philosophy of building meaningful synergies among industry and government by addressing strategic issues of national significance.

The Women’s Entrepreneurship Committee hopes to be a proactive, progressive body with a diversified membership base, a dynamic leadership team, driven to meet the new challenges of today’s world.

The core objectives of the committee are empowerment, education, skill development, employment, entrepreneurship, and business development.
