Blast at OCL cement factory in Odisha, 1 killed


Sundargarh: A woman worker was killed and three others were seriously injured following a blast inside a cement factory of Odisha Cement Ltd at Rajgangpur in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Wednesday.

Sources said the incident occurred when a group of workers were engaged in cleaning of Line-3 blast furnace inside the factory of OCL India Ltd, a subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat.

The injured workers were admitted to a hospital where the woman identified as Rashmi Kujur succumbed to her injuries.

 “A mishap happened today at our cement manufacturing facility, Dalmia DSP Unit 1 at Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district at around 1630 IST. One worker, Rashmi Kujur sustained burn injuries and was quickly evacuated to a hospital in Rourkela but unfortunately, she could not be saved despite urgent medical treatment,” said a statement issued by Dalmia Cement.

“We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and will extend all help to them in this hour of grief. We are investigating the cause of the accident on an immediate basis and are extending all cooperation to the local administration,” said the statement.
