JSW gets second iron ore block in Odisha upstaging JSPL, ArcelorMittal


Bhubaneswar: Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Steel has bagged second iron ore mines in Odisha upstaging JSPL, ArcelorMittal, KJS Ahluwalia and Rungta Mines.

JSW Steel bagged Narayanaposi iron ore block in Odisha, said an official.

Earlier, JSW Steel has bagged the Nuagaon iron ore block. The block is currently held by merchant miner KJS Ahluwalia with deposits of 790 million tonnes of iron ore.

Narayanaposi and Nuagaon blocks are expected to provide assured raw material security to JSW Steel, which is setting up a 13.2 million tonne per annum (mtpa) greenfield steel plant near Paradip.

The steel plant will be set up on land once acquired for the $12 billion Posco project.

JSW Steel has pledged an investment of Rs 55,000 crore on the steel plant at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district.
