Bhubaneswar: Three-member central team arrived in Odisha to assess the steps taken by the state government to treat patients coming from China following the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus.
The central team led by Dr Shikha Vardhan, Deputy Director, Centre for Environmental & Occupational Health of National Centre for Disease Control, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, reviewed the situation with the state government officials.
The review meeting was attended by Health Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Director Medical Education Training (DMET) Prof CBK Mohanty and Regional Director, Public Health, Susant Kumar Kar.
The central team also visited the isolation ward at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and took stock of the steps taken by the hospital authorities.
DMET director said 33 persons from China, Thailand and Hong Kong had arrived in Odisha from January 15 till date.
He said the sample reports of four persons have been found negative while 26 persons are kept under home surveillance.
“The team has expressed satisfaction over the precautionary measures taken by the state government to deal with the Coronavirus,” he added.
