Ganjam bus accident: 9 killed, over 30 injured


Berhampur: At least nine persons were killed and about 25 injured after a bus in which they were travelling in caught fire after coming in contact with an 11 KV wire in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday.

The accident occurred near Nandarajpur under Golanthara police limits of Ganjam district.

The bus caught fire as it came in contact with an overhead live 11KV wire.

Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra said the injured have been admitted to MKCG Medical, Berhampur.

He said all the injured persons have been rescued in Ganjam bus accident.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief at the death of 6 persons in Mendrajpur (Ganjam) bus tragedy.

The Chief Minister conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved families and announces exgratia of 2 lakh rupees to the next of the kin of the deceased.

All 25 injured people have been admitted at MKCG and will be given free medical treatment, he announced.
