Odisha sex racket: Flesh trade continue to flourish in state

Odisha has 10,210 sex workers: Minister


Bhubaneswar: Odisha has as many as 10,210 sex workers in 22 of the 30 districts of the state, informed Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das.

Replying to a question in the Assembly on Wednesday, the Minister informed that Balasore district has the highest 1,050 sex workers.

While Koraput and Mayurbhanj districts have 750 each, Keonjhar has 700, Khurda has 610 and Cuttack has 250 sex workers.

The sex workers were identified during a survey as per the guidelines of the National Aids Control Organisation (NACO) and covered under the AIDS control programme, said Das.
