University campus must be kept free from non-students: Naveen

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday asked the Vice-Chancellors of the State Public Universities to ensure that University campus is kept free from non-students and unauthorised persons.

“Discipline must be maintained at any cost.  The interference of outsiders must not be tolerated. University campus must be kept free from non-students and unauthorised persons,” said the Chief Minister while addressing the Vice Chancellors.

“As Vice-Chancellors, you are the leaders of your universities. You have to make continuous endeavour for elevating your institutions to higher levels of academic excellence,” he added.

Patnaik suggested them focus on transparency in the recruitment of teachers while teachers must be encouraged for research and publication.

The University examinations along with the publication of results must be done in time. No delay shall be tolerated from next academic year, warned the Chief Minister.

Ensure quality education in affiliated colleges. The Vice Chancellors, Senior Officers, and faculty members must undertake surprise visit to affiliated colleges from time to time, he added.

Naveen asked to make efforts to achieve a higher NAAC rating and NIRF ranking in the coming cycle of assessment and ranking.

“I expect all of you to spend more of your time inside the University campus interacting with the students. I assure that there will be no constraints of funds and the State Government will support the Universities in all possible ways,” said the Chief Minister.
