We may be moving towards Phase 3 of Covid-19: Bagchi

Bhubaneswar: “We may be moving towards Phase 3 of Covid-19 transmission (community),” said Subroto Bagchi, Odisha government’s spokesperson on COVID-19 on Friday.

The apprehension of Bagchi came a day after a 60-year-old man with no foreign travel history tested positive for the virus.

The government spokesperson said the man travelled to Delhi and Rewari in Haryana between March 7 and 10 with his family.

He showed flu symptoms on March 13 and had consulted in OPD of Vidhan Sabha dispensary in Bhubaneswar.

The man then consulted in a Kar Clinic in Bhubaneswar on March 21 and got admitted in ICU of the hospital on March 23 before being shifted to isolation facility of Capital Hospital here.

He had travelled in Indigo flight from Delhi to Bhubaneswar on March 10 with his wife and daughter.

“After this 3rd Coronavirus case, we see the possibility of getting into the 3rd stage of community transmission. If you have been on the Indigo flight, Assembly premises, Kar Clinic, then stay under quarantine,” said Bagchi.

He said the patient’s wife, daughter and driver have been kept in isolation.
