Bhubaneswar: The state administration on Thursday sealed the Suryanagar area in Bhubaneswar after it could not establish the contact history of the 5th COVID19 patient.

“Administration had no option but to initiate containment as no travel history or contact history of the COVID patient could be established. Teams shall visit households in the containment area to ascertain whether any person has any flu like symptoms,” tweeted the Health department.

Gopabandhu Square to LIC square, LIC square to Ganga nagar Square, Ganga Nagar to Siripur Chhak and Siripur to Gopabandhu Chhak have been notified as restricted zones.

The Health department said all essential requirements of the residents in the Surya Nagar containment zone shall be fulfilled.

“No need to panic. Community transmission has not been observed as yet. Containment is an abundant precautionary measure,” said the Health department.

Earlier, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) revealed the identity and other details of the person requesting the people who have been in contact with him to remain in home quarantine.

The 5th COVID-19 patient is Pradipta Kumar Dalabehera (60), a resident of ward no 46, Surya Nagar, Bhubaneswar.

BMC has initiated steps to disinfect the area. It will ensure that the basic availability of the services are not affected.
