Asit Tripahty appointed Odisha Chief Secretary

No shutdown extension in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy on Sunday asked people not to overcrowd markets after 48-hour shutdown gets over in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Bhadrak at 8 pm.

If people do not maintain social distancing and again create chaos at markets and veg shops, the government will take strong action, warned Tripathy.

“People are requested not to be desperate and crowd the markets. However, the district collectors and commissioners of corporations may pass appropriate orders, depending upon the situation, for containment in their jurisdiction wherever required,” said the Chief Secretary.

While Tripathy dispelled apprehensions of community transmission in Bhubaneswar, he said the government will focus on hotspot containment strategy in next 7-10 days.

“There is no evidence of community transmission in Surya Nagar and Bomikhal cases as we were apprehending earlier,” he added.
