Odisha celebrates Odia New Year, Maha Vishuba Sankranti

President, PM, Governor, CM greet on Maha Visuba Sankranti


Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday greeted the people of Odisha on the occasion of Odia New Year, also celebrated as “Maha Visuba Sankranti”.

The President took to Twitter to wish the people of Odisha residing across the globe.

“Happy #OdiaNewYear and Maha Bishuba Pana Sankranti. May the coming year bring happiness and good health in everyone’s lives,” tweeted the Prime Minister.

Prof Ganeshi Lal too wished all in Odia. In his tweet, he urged all Odias to pledge and make today Vijay Sankalp Diwas in the fight against coronavirus.

Patnaik also used the twitter handle to wish the people on the occasion of ‘Vishuba Sankranti’.

The Chief Minister prayed to Lord Jagannath to save us from the coronavirus epidemic and asked the omniscient lord to grant us the strength to beat COVID-19.

Special rituals were performed at Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri amid unveiling of new Odia almanac before Lord Jagannth, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra.
