Bhubaneswar: A COVID-19 recovered patient, who was admitted to KIMS COVID19 Hospital in Bhubaneswar, died on Tuesday morning due to hypopituitarism with septic shock and multi-organ failure, informed Information and Public Relation (I & PR) Department.
The deceased, a resident of Medinapur of West Bengal, was 44th positive patient of Odisha.
Patient No. 44 from West Bengal died this morning due to hypopituitarism multi-organ with septic shock and multi organ failure, said department.
“The patient had previously been operated at a Bhubaneswar-based private hospital for pituitary tumor. When he had come for a follow-up treatment to the same hospital recently, he was detected COVID-19 positive,” the I & PR Department said.
Odisha Covid-19 chief Spokesperson, Subroto Bagchi clarified that Covid positive Case No. 44 a resident of West Bengal, has lost his life to cancer and not coronavirus.
The patient had previously been operated at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for pituitary tumor.
Recently, he had visited Odisha again for follow up treatment in the same hospital. It is here that he was detected as Covid-19 positive.
After proper treatment, he was found negative for Covid-19 in 2 repeat tests. Although he had recovered from Covid-19, he could not be discharged due to his other pre-existing medical complaints.
