Wait for Odisha govt’s decision: CP on opening of shops

Bhubaneswar: After Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced that shops and will be allowed to open with certain conditions, Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi asked to wait for the decision of the Odisha government for reopening of shops providing non-essential goods and services.

“Please await State Government decision on the subject, which will be based on consideration of local situation and requirements. Till there is a decision by the State Government shops, except for those already exempted, will remain closed,” tweeted Sarangi.

All shops in residential areas – except those in the malls – have been allowed to reopen from Saturday with conditions by the government. However, the relaxations are not applicable to hotspots and containment zones.

In rural areas, all shops, except those inside shopping malls are allowed to open. In urban areas, all standalone shops, neighbourhood shops and shops inside residential complexes are allowed to open.

The Ministry said masks, gloves and adherence to social distancing norms will be mandatory for shop opening of shops.
