Noted Odia dramatist Bijay Mishra passes away

Bhubaneswar: Bijay Mishra, noted lyricist and screenwriter of Odisha, passed away at age of 83 at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, said sources on Sunday.

A pioneer of modern theatre movement and playwright in Odia film industry, Bijay Mishra was a recipient of Odisha Sahitya Akademi and Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief at the passing away of noted dramatist Bijay Mishra.

“Late Sri Mishra was a leading dramatist of the contemporary times. His contribution to Odia literature and Odia film industry is immense,” said Patnaik.

Chief Minister conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
