Odisha govt to bring back migrant labourers from Gujarat


Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to bring back stranded Odia migrant workers from Gujarat.

The migrant labourers will be brought back by bus.

A discussion between Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his Gujarat counterpart Vijay Rupani was held through videoconferencing on Sunday for the safe return of the migrants.

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended the VC from New Delhi.

An officer-level committee will oversee the process.

The meeting also decided that Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh governments would be requested to waive off the road tax for the buses to be engaged for the transportation of the migrant labourers from Gujarat.
