Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday imposed restrictions on the movement of people from 7 pm to 7 am, said official sources.
Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said that people are barred from moving out of the house from 7 pm to 7 am except for essential purposes during the lockdown.
“As per lockdown condition effective from today, in all zones & across India, movement out of house is not permitted from 7 PM to 7 AM except for essential purposes. All are requested to stay home during this time. All emergency workers & goods are exempt from this restriction,” tweeted Sarangi.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is coming under the red zone category.
BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said as Bhubaneswar is in red zone normal operations and movements will be restricted from 7 pm to 7 am expect emergency services.
Cuttack Municipal Corporation allowed non essential shops to function between 7 am and 6 pm. Cuttack district has been placed under green zone.
Jagatsinghpur district collector S K Mohapatra, in a notification, said: “..there are sufficient grounds for proceeding under section 144 CrPC and that immediate prevention of spread of COVID-19 is desirable and the situation if not checked immediately may lead to undesirable consequence.
“Hence I do herby issue prohibitory orders (curfew) u/s 144 CrPC restricting the movement of individuals, for all non-essential activities between 7 pm to 7 am throughout the district of Jagatsinghpur.”
