COVID-19 positive cases cross 2000-mark in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: The total COVID-19 positive cases reached 2104 in Odisha as 156 persons tested positive for deadly coronavirus in the last 24 hours, highest single-day spike so far, said the health department on Monday.

Highest 50 cases were reported from Kendrapara district.

Other districts, which recorded fresh cases are Ganjam (17),  Jajpur (11),  Khurdha (3), Cuttack (20),  Bhadrak (7), Jagatsinghpur (14), Balangir (2), Nayagarh (3), Sundergarh (3), Boudh (1), Nuapada (3), Mayurbhanj (3), Keonjhar (1), Kandhamal (9), Malkangiri (1), Sambalpur (2), Baragarh (3) and Sonepur (3).

Of the fresh cases, 153 have been reported from quarantine centres and remaining three are local contacts.

The number of active cases in the state stands at 969 while 1126 persons have recovered in the state. Seven persons have so far succumbed to the virus.
