Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested Balianta Tehsildar and a data entry operator on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh for settling a land-related issue here.
The officials of Vigilance division of Bhubaneswar arrested Tehsildar Rashmi Rekha Pradhan and data entry operator Dhaneswar Sahoo.
Dhaneswar Sahoo was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance Bhubaneswar Division while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh from complainant Kailash Rath of Sastrinagar under Kharavelanagar police sation.
Sahoo said that he will pay the same to the Tahasildar for conversion of his land.
The bribe amount has been recovered from the possession of Sahoo, said Vigilance sources.
Both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash of Sahoo gave a positive chemical reaction.
The search of the houses of Dhaneswar Sahoo and Tahasildar Rashmi Rekha Pradhan is going on, sources said.
