Huge spike! Odisha records 755 COVID-19 cases


Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported as many as 755 new COVID19 positive cases and four deaths related to Coronavirus in last 24 hours, informed the health department on Friday.

This is the highest spike in positive cases in a single day in the state so far.

The positive tally increased to 11,956 while the death toll reached to 56. The fresh four death cases were reported from Ganjam district.

 Out of fresh positive cases, 508 were reported from different quarantine centres while remaining 247 are local contacts.

Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the department.

The cases have been reported from 23 districts: Angul (3), Balasore (9), Bargarh (1), Bhadrak (2), Balangir (12), Cuttack (55), Deogarh (4), Dhenkanal (4), Gajapati (30), Ganjam (320), Jagatsinghpur (5), Jajpur (86), Kandhamal (2), Kendrapada (5), Keonjhar (32), Khordha (59) Koraput (5), Malkangiri (18), Mayurbhanj (12) Nayagarh (16), Puri (11), Sambalpur(2) and Sundargarh (62).

The number of active cases in the state rose to 4476 while 7407 patients have recovered in the state so far.
