Odisha’s Covid cases cross 26,000 mark


Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 positive cases in Odisha increased to 26,892 with the detection of 1503 new cases in the last 24 hours, informed the health department on Monday.

Seven more COVID-19 patients passed away in the last 24 hours, bringing the total coronavirus-related fatalities in the state to 147.

Three deaths were reported from Ganjam, and one each from Cuttack, Khordha, Malkangiri and Sundergarh districts.

Out of 1503 positive cases, 1002 are from quarantine centres while 501 are local contact cases.

Ganjam reported highest 491 cases, followed by Khurda (223), Cuttack (136), 73 each from Kandhamal and Gajapati, Rayagada (68), Sundargarh (57), Jajpur (51), Keonjhar (43), 34 each in Koraput and Malkangiri, Dhenkanal (32), Mayurbhanj (28), Bhadrak (25), Bargarh (23), Balangir (21), Balasore (19), Sambalpur (17), 10 each from Jharsuguda and Kalahandi, Kendrapada (9), Nayagarh (8), Jagatsinghpur (6), four each from Sonepur and Puri, Nabarangpur (2), and one each from Boudh and Angul.

The active cases in the state is now 9919.
