Odisha records highest single-day spike of 1602 Covid cases


Bhubaneswar: Odisha has reported 1602 new Covid-19 positive cases, the biggest single-day spike of in the last 24 hours, informed a health official on Saturday.

With this, the COVID-19 tally in the state reached 33,479.

Odisha’s Covid-19 death toll rose to 187 after 10 more positive patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Five patients died in Ganjam district while three deaths were reported from Khurda district. Gajapati and Sundergarh districts registered one death each, the official said.

Of the new positive cases, 993 people were reported from quarantine centree and 609 are local contacts.

Maximum 308 cases were reported from Ganjam district followed by Khurda (285 new cases), Rayagada (164 new cases), Gajapati (108 new cases) and Cuttack (54 new cases.
