Highest ever spike! Odisha reports 1699 positive cases

Bhubaneswar: In the highest single-day spike, 1699 more test positive for Covid-19, raising total positive cases in Odisha to 40,717, informed the health department on Thursday.

Covid-19 claimed 10 more lives in Odisha in the last 24 hours, taking the toll in the state to 235.

The fresh deaths were reported from Ganjam district (3), Sundargarh district (2) and 1 each from Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur districts.

Of the new positive cases, 1073 were in quarantine and rest 626 are local contact cases.

Ganjam district reported the highest positive cases of 268, followed by 220 in Khordha, 105 in Cuttack and 101 in Sambalpur districts. Sundargarh district also reported highest-ever single-day spike 178 cases.

Total 25738 patients have recovered while the state has 14700 active positive cases.
