With record 3,384 cases, Odisha’s Covid tally crosses 90k mark


Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 tally in Odisha has increased to 90,986 with the highest single-day spike of 3,384 cases in the last 24 hours, informed the health department on Thursday.

The death toll due to Covid-19 rose to 448 on Thursday with 7 more succumbing to the virus infection in the last 24 hours.

Three deaths have been reported from Sambalpur district, two from Bargarh district and one each from Bhadrak and Bhubaneswar.

Of the new cases, 2,128 were detected in quarantine centres and 1,256 were local contacts.

Khurda reported highest 587 positive cases followed by Cuttack (492), Sambalpur (182), Mayurbhanj (177), Ganjam (177), Jajpur (176), Bargarh (157), Rayagada (154), Puri (121), Balasore (119), Sundargarh (101), Balangir (99), Jharsuguda (94), Koraput (89), Bhadrak (82), Kendrapada (76), Nayagarh (76), Keonjhar (63), Dhenkanal (60), Kandhamal (58), Malkangiri (44), Jagatsinghpur (43), Sonepur (37), Nabarangpur (31), Kalahandi (27), Nuapada (19), Deogarh (16), Angul (13), Gajapati (9) and Boudh (5).

Odisha now has 27,672 active cases and 62,813 recoveries.
