Odisha govt asks universities to stop ongoing recruitment

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Higher Education department has asked the state-run universities to stop ongoing recruitment for teaching and non-teaching posts after amendment of Odisha Universities Act, 1989.

Bringing amendment to the Act, the state government has entrusted the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to conduct the teacher recruitment in the universities.

Higher Education secretary Saswat Mishra has asked the Vice-Chancellors (VCs) of 12 state public universities for compliance of the provisions of the amended Act.

“Requisition for filling up of vacant posts of teachers (in all three ranks of assistant professors, associate professors and professors) should be filed with OPSC. Ongoing selection and recruitment process, if currently being done at university level, should be stopped forthwith,” said Mishra in a letter.
