Odisha govt to close Covid Care Centres, TMCs

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday ordered for the immediate closure of Temporary Medical Centres (TMCs) and COVID Care Homes (CCHs).

In a letter to all district collectors and municipal commissioners, additional chief secretary (health department) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said the occupancy in TMCs and CCHs are virtually nil.

“Hence, these facilities should be immediately closed down and in case of CCCs (COVID Care Centres), the occupancy has dramatically fallen and in many of them there are no patients,” said Mohapatra.

He further said that the requisite manpower of CCCs can be remobilised to their original positions.

In the case of CCHs, the health personnel can be redeployed in the districts, where their services can be better utilised.

He directed the district collectors to personally monitor the implementation of the directive and give compliance on a daily basis to the Special Relief Commissioner in a specific format.

“In case of any emergency requirement of these facilities, it can be created at a short notice as a buffer,” the letter said.
