With 4356 Covid cases, Odisha records highest single-day spike


Bhubaneswar: As many as 4356 fresh Covid-19 cases, highest single-day spike so far, have been reported in Odisha in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s total tally to 2,05,452, said a health official on Saturday.

The state’s Covid-19 death toll increased to 783 with 16 more persons succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.

While Khordha district registered 4 deaths, 3 each succumbed in Koraput and Puri districts. One each death were reported in Balasore, Balangir, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj districts.

Of the total fresh cases, 2529 have been reported from different quarantine centres while 1827 were local contacts.

With this, the number of active cases in the state rose to 39,184. Total 1, 65, 432 patients have recovered from the disease so far.
