Odisha govt initiates steps for reopening of temples


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has directed the Puri Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and other major temples of state under Endowment to prepare a plan of action for opening temples for worshippers adhering to Covid-19 regulations.

The government asked the district collectors to submit a report after consultation with all stakeholders in the next 10 days.

“State govt directs temple admn of Puri and other major temples of state under Endowment to prepare plan of action for opening temples for worshippers adhering to covid regulations.Respective Collectors will submit report after consultation with all stake holders in next 10 days,” tweeted the chief secretary.

Notably, the temple priests have been demanding reopening of the temples across the state, which were closed following the Coronavirus outbreak.
