Schools to reopen in Odisha this month

Bhubaneswar: Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Wednesday informed that the state government is planning to re-open the schools for the students of Class IX to XII in the current month.

The schools have remained closed in Odisha due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The Minister informed that he has already discussed with stakeholders and the draft of a standard operating procedure (SOP) for reopening of schools has been prepared.

“We will take decision on opening of schools after holding discussions with the district collectors and district education officers (DEOs),” Dash said.

The department has already reduced the syllabus by 30 percent as the schools remained closed due to Covid-19 lockdown.

However, the minister assured that syllabus will not be reduced more than 30%.

“If the guardians or parents are reluctant to send their children to schools after reopening, we would make arrangement for online classes,” the Minister informed.
