Decision to reopen schools in Odisha put on hold

Bhubaneswar: Schools in Odisha will continue to remain closed in November in view of a possible COVID-19 second wave next month, informed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Friday.

He said the decision on reopening of schools across the state this month has been put on hold.

“The decision to reopen schools in November has been put on hold. There is a possibility of a Covid-19 second wave in the state next month. The schools will continue to be closed till further orders,” said the Minister.

The state government had earlier announced that classes for students of IX to XII will resume in November. The Minister had discussed with the stakeholders to prepare the guidelines and necessary SOPs for reopening of the schools in the state.

The experts have projected that Odisha may witness a second wave of Covid-19 infection during winter.
