OSRTC inks MoU with PCRA for Fuel-efficient driving


Bhubaneswar: Odisha State Road Transport Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) for imparting training to about 750 drivers of OSRTC through PCRA’s flagship drivers training programme on fuel-efficient driving skills.

The MoU was signed by Arun Bothra, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, OSRTC and Pradeep Kumar Panda, Additional Director, PCRA-ER, Bhubaneswar for creating awareness among drivers community regarding efficient petroleum conservation.

Speaking on the occasion, Bothra briefed about the importance of advocating practices which can lead to sustainable transportation in the state.

He expressed his belief that such joint efforts shall result in saving of fuel & money other than contributing to the environmental protection.

It would help to educate drivers on adoption of newer fuel-efficient methods being introduced in the market.

Panda elaborated the efforts of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) in bringing down the injudicious use of petroleum products in transport and other sectors.

He informed about the various training programmes imparted by PCRA for creating awareness on such practices which would result in achieving the higher fuel efficiency in the use of buses & other vehicles.

The MoU is aimed at conserving diesel and bring the best practices of driving in the transport sector of the country.

Fuel Efficiency Improvement Programme (FEIP) shall target low performing drivers and low performing buses thereby improving overall performance of OSRTC.

The recently developed software of PCRA under FEIP would identify the low performing drivers & buses and suggest methods for improving fuel efficient driving habits.

Due to the continuous support of PCRA for the last ten years, the drivers of OSRTC have been able to achieve better fuel performance, as a result two depots of OSRTC namely Padampur and Bhawanipatna have been adjudged as the best performing depot of the state for the year 2019.

Earlier also the corporation has been awarded as the best KMPL Achiever Award in Muffasil service among the 52 State road transport undertakings of the country by Associations of State Road Transport Undertakings, New Delhi.
