Brown sugar worth Rs 1cr seized in Odisha

Balasore: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch with the help of Balasore police seized brown sugar over 1 kg worth about Rs 1 crore in the district.

The STF also arrested three drug peddlers- Sk Jamir of Masjid Gali in Arada Bazar, Prabhat Sethy of Nayabazar and Jasobant Bagh of Kasimela of the district.

A joint team of the STF and Balasore police conducted a raid in Sahadevkhunta area and nabbed the trio on Friday. They were later produced before a local court.

The STF seized brown sugar weighing 1.105 kg and Rs 85,680 cash from their possession.

So far, the STF has seized 23. 273 kg of brown sugar and arrested as many as 47 drug peddlers in 2020.
