Progress of Bargarh cancer hospital reviewed


Bhubaneswar: The progress of setting up a cancer hospital at Bargarh was reviewed by chief secretary Asit Tripathy here on Friday.

Discussions in the meeting showed that the cancer care hospital will be established at the district headquarters hospital in Bargarh.

In the meanwhile, the expert committee has already selected the site and outlined the clinical facilities to be available in the hospital.

The major facilities include radiotherapy, CT simulator, HDR Brachytherapy, dosimetry, immobilization, histopathology laboratory, emergency care and day care chemotherapy.

A bunker of 100 ft x 100 ft area will be constructed for radiotherapy unit. It is proposed to start as a 50 bedded hospital.      

Tripathy directed to equip the hospital properly with adequate doctor and paramedics.

It was decided to place human resources like radiation oncologist, medical physicist, radiotherapy technician, emergency doctors, nurses, front office executives, pharmacist, chemo-nurses along with auxiliary personnel. 

Tripathy also directed to put in place appropriate housekeeping and sanitization system for upkeep of the hospital.
