Grant Central University status to Utkal University: Pradhan

Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday wrote a letter to Union Education Minister Dr RP Nishank seeking his personal intervention to grant Central University status to Utkal University in Odisha.

Pradhan cited 75 years of glorious tradition of Utkal University in nurturing academic excellence.

The premier institution is celebrating its 78th Foundation Day today.

“Utkal University, a premiere institute of learning has a heritage of more than 75 years of nurturing excellence in higher education. Granting Central University status to Utkal University will unlock its true potential and also fulfil the long-pending demand of people of Odisha,” said Pradhan.

He said this will go a long way in catering to the needs of students and also create tremendous potential for employment generation, industry-academia interface & research in the adjoining regions of the educational and economic hub of Bhubaneswar.
