Bhubaneswar: Following persistent demand from Opposition parties, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday said the government was ready for SIT probe into Nayagarh minor girl murder case.
“If SIT probe is what is required, State govt will take steps in this regard & do it immediately,” the Chief Minister informed the state assembly.
“My govt is always committed for free and fair investigation. I am deeply saddened by the incident and my govt always stand for the rule of law,” said the Chief Minister.
Earlier, the Odisha government had directed a crime branch probe into the alleged abduction and killing of a five-year-old girl.
The deceased girl’s father Ashok Sahoo and mother Saudamini on Tuesday attempted self-immolation outside the Odisha assembly alleging that they have been denied justice.
