Jio Odisha achieves highest market share in gross revenue

Bhubaneswar: Marching ahead in Odisha, Reliance Jio has achieved 51.8% market share in gross revenue, highest by any operator in any state for the quarter ending September 2020, revealed the latest financial report published by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

In the quarter spanning from July-September 2020, gross revenue of Reliance Jio in Odisha increased by 6.6% to over Rs. 633 crores, while the overall gross revenue of the industry increased to Rs. 1222 crores during this period, as per the TRAI report.

As per the report, gross revenue of Airtel in the quarter was at Rs. 435 crores followed by Vodafone Idea at nearly Rs. 80 crores and BSNL at Rs. 70 crores.

It is worth mentioning here that Reliance Jio had become the first telecom operator in the state to have achieved more than 50% market share in gross revenue, as per TRAI’s financial report for the industry for April-June 2020 quarter.

The September quarter also witnessed sharp rise in data usage with thousands of users continuing to work from home and ongoing online classes of students in the present pandemic situation.

Along with ensuring consistent high-speed internet for mobile users across the state, Reliance Jio also rolled out JioFiber high-speed broadband in key locations of 18 major cities in Odisha including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Jatni, Angul, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Brajaraj Nagar, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Keonjhar, Bhawanipatna, Koraput, Rayagada, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajapur Road and fast expanding its services to other major cities and towns in Odisha.    

Reliance Jio has been steadily growing in Odisha with rapid expansion of its vast 4G network coverage, continuous rise in the number of Jio subscribers in the state and consistent high-speed internet service across the state.

It has become the complete market leader in the state with becoming both No. 1 in both customer market share and revenue market share since December 2019.

As per the recently released mobile subscriber data by TRAI, Reliance Jio added highest number subscribers in Odisha in the month of August, surpassing 40% subscriber market share with 1.34 crore Jio mobile subscribers in Odisha.
