Odisha to bring special Act for Lingaraj Temple


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said there will be a special Act for Lingaraj Temple like the one for Puri Jagannath Temple.

He announced it after reviewing the progress of beautification project of the 11th century shrine at Ekamra Kshetra.

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to people who have handed over their land to the administration for the beautification project.

“I would like to expess my gratitude to all the people who contributed land for the Shree Lingaraj Temple project. I am very pleased to see how the work is progressing here,” he added.

The beautification project will draw more pilgrims and tourists to Ekamra Kshetra, Patnaik said.

Chief Minister expressed hope that efforts for the implementation of the project under 5-T initiative shall attract more tourists and develop the heritage city Bhubaneswar into a major tourist destination.

Chief Minister also thanked all for the co-operation extended for the success of the project.

He also visited Padaharaa pond and reviewed the project works at Bindusagar Mathaghat.
