Colleges across Odisha likely to reopen in January 2021

Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education Department is hopeful that colleges across Odisha would reopen in January 2021, informed an official on Thursday.

Higher Education secretary Saswat Mishra said they are hopeful that classes will resume in colleges in January 2021.

However, a final decision regarding the reopening of colleges will be taken by the Odisha government after reviewing all aspects including the COVID-19 pandemic situation, he added.

He also said that the under graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) semester exams likely to be postponed.

 “The exams cannot be conducted only on the basis of online teaching. The fail percentage will increase if exams are held on the basis of online classes,” said Mishra.

Earlier, the department has asked the Universities and college authorities not to conduct examinations till the physical mode of teaching is resumed and completion of syllabus.
