Odisha teacher arrested for Rs 3.27 cr disproportionate assets


Bhubaneswar: A teacher has been arrested in Odisha’s Gajapati district for allegedly possessing assets worth Rs 3.27 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Dusmant Nayak, Assistant Teacher, Government Upper Primary School, S. Routapur under Gosani block of Gajapati district.

The Vigilance officials had raided multiple places belonging to Nayak and detected properties worth Rs 4.03 crore.

They detected three triple-storied buildings, five double-storied buildings, eight plots, deposits in different banks, investment in LIC policies, gold and silver ornaments, cash and household articles.

After search, inventory and further inquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Nayak were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 3,27,25,448, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
