Property details of representatives, babus in public domain in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said all public representatives and government employees will furnish their property statements every year.

Addressing BJD’s state council meeting here, the BJD president said the property statements of all government employees and public representatives will also be submitted to Lokayukta every year.

He said that property statements of Sarpanchs, block chairmen, Zila Parishad presidents and vice-presidents, MLAs, Ministers, MPs and Chief Minister will be placed in public domain.

“Party MPs will make the declaration voluntarily so as to set an example in the country,” he added.

The Chief Minister said government employees starting from entry level to chief secretary will give property statements annually.

“Corruption is the biggest enemy of development and the Odisha government is giving adequate focus on transparency. The state has already launched a fight against poverty, diseases, regional disparity, inequality and natural disasters,” he said.

“Fight against corruption will help us in our fight against all ills of society. May it be inequality, may it be poverty, may it be injustice, in fact, all maladies,” said the Chief Minister.
