Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio further extended its leadership position in Odisha telecom market, as it became the only mobile service provider which witnessed an increase in subscriber base in the state while all others lost thousands of subscribers.
According to the mobile subscriber data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio added over 72000 subscribers in Odisha in the month of October 2020, while Bharti Airtel lost over 7500 subscribers and Vodafone Idea lost over 21000 subscribers in the state.
BSNL lost over 33000 mobile subscribers in the state in October. Odisha witnessed marginal increase of just over 10000 in the total mobile subscriber base of 3.33 crores as on 31st October 2020.
With this, Jio now has over 40.5% customer market share in Odisha with 1.35 crore mobile subscribers in the state followed by Airtel with 32% market share. Odisha is among only three states in the country where Jio has surpassed 40% customer market share in the telecom sector.
It is worth mentioning here that Jio has consistently been adding maximum new subscribers in Odisha with its largest 4G network, rapid network expansion, connecting the hitherto unconnected areas along with attractive value for money offers and propositions for every segment of customers.
As per the latest financial report on the sector published by TRAI, Jio has surpassed 50% market share in gross revenue in the state, consolidating its No. 1 position in both customer and revenue market share in Odisha.
Reliance Jio also rolled out JioFiber high-speed broadband in key locations of 21 major cities and towns in Odisha including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Jatni, Angul, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Brajaraj Nagar, Belpahar, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Keonjhar, Bhawanipatna, Koraput, Rayagada, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajapur Road, Bhadrak, Talcher and fast expanding its services to other major cities and towns in Odisha.
