BJD will continue to fight for women reservation in Parliament, Assembly: Naveen

Bhubaneswar: BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday said the party’s fight for 33 percent reservation to women in Parliament and Assembly will continue.

National parties remember women empowerment during elections and commit in their manifesto only to conveniently forget after winning the elections. BJD will keep reminding the national parties about this forgotten promise, said Patnaik.

He was addressing BJD’s 24th foundation day celebrations.

From now on in every session of Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and legislative assembly, BJD will raise the women’s reservation issue and remind national parties, said the Chief Minister.

He said BJD has been giving importance to women and has reserved 50 percent seats for women in Panchayats and urban local bodies.
