Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Tuesday announced to hold Odisha Bandh on February 15 protesting against the rising price of petrol and diesel.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik said the bandh will be observed from 7 AM to 1 PM across the state.
The vehicles will stay off roads, while shops and others business establishments will remain shut during the period.
“We know that people will face various inconveniences due to the bandh. But we have called for the shutdown to create public awareness about various issues, including the record hike of petrol, diesel and domestic gas,” he said.
“The shameless fuel loot by the BJD & the BJP govts has forced Congress to call for an Odisha Bandh on 15th Feb 2021, from 7 am to 1 pm. The two govts must be held accountable. Only a sharp reduction in fuel prices will give relief to the common man,” said the PCC president.
Patnaik also sought support and cooperation from all the people of the state to make to bandh a success.
“Under the BJD government, ‘Jal, Jungle and Jameen’ are in danger in our state. In recent years, killings have become rampant. Our mothers and sisters are not safe on the Odisha’s streets. We need to raise our voice. I appeal to the people to support the Bandh,” he added.
