Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday released the operational guidelines for initiating Covid-19 vaccination of the elderly population and persons with co-morbidities’.
The guidelines were released by the additional chief secretary to the Odisha government, P.K. Mohapatra.
The vaccination drive to be started from March 1 will be planned for 5 days a week except on Sundays.
The state government has asked all healthcare institutions, from primary level ones like Community Health Centres and Primary Health Care centers to tertiary ones like Medical colleges and hospitals, to be prepared for vaccinating individuals.
As the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) today announced that the elderly population and the persons with co-morbidities will be inoculated from March, the Odisha Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department today issued operational strategy for the next priority group across the State.
“Now, Govt of India, MoHFW has communicated that the vaccination of next priority group of elderly population and persons with co-morbidities will be taken up in March 2021. In view of anticipated high number of beneficiaries to be vaccinated, all the public health facilities from tertiary level to Medical College & Hospital, District Head Quarters Hospitals, Sub-Divisional Hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, Health & Wellness Centres and Sub-Centres etc should be prepared for offering COVID-19 Vaccination services,” said Mohapatra.
