Accused arrested in theft of idol from temple in Puri


Puri: The police have arrested an accused in the theft of five old metallic idols from the Sri Gopinathdev Temple in Odisha’s Puri district.

The temple is situated at Kakudia under Pipili police limits in Puri district.

The accused had allegedly broken inside the 13th-century temple along with his associates on January 30 night.

On January 31 morning, the temple priest Danardan Dixit found the gate locks broken and the idols of Lord Bishnu, Maa Laxmi, Lord Krishna, Sri Radha and Sri Garuda Deva missing.

However, other accused persons involved in the crime are yet to be apprehended.
