Odisha set to produce 100MT steel by 2030

Committed to provide facilities for AM/NS India’s plant: Steel Minister


Bhubaneswar: Union Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday said the Government of India is committed to provide all kind of facilities for setting up of the 12 mtpa steel plant by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.

AM/NS India on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Odisha government for setting up a 12 mtpa integrated steel plant in Kendrapara district with an investment of Rs 50,000 crore.

“Congratulations to @AMNSIndia and Odisha Government for signing of MoU for setting up a 12 MT integrated steel plant in Kendrapada district with an investment of ₹ 50,000 crore,” tweeted Pradhan.

He said this mega steel plant in Kendrapada will bring a new wave of economic development and employment generation in Odisha and will give boost to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Purvodaya and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

The proposed steel plant will benefit from massive infrastructure developments in the region over the past 6 years. Expansion of Paradip port, setting up of Mahanadi riverine port, key rail corridors, such as the Paradip-Haridaspur new line will facilitate industrial development, said Pradhan.
