Bhubaneswar: India on Friday successfully test fired Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology from a defence facility off Odisha coast.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) test fired the missile from the Launch Centre-III of Integrated Test Range at Chandipur.
All subsystems including the ground booster motor performed as expected. Many new technologies proven during the test, said sources.
Successful demonstration of Solid Fuel based Ducted Ramjet technology has provided DRDO with a technological advantage which will enable it to develop long range air-to-air missiles. At present, such technology is available only with a handful of countries in the world, sources added.
