Odisha Police arrests 3,988 absconders in a special drive


Bhubaneswar: In a special drive, the Odisha Police has arrested 3,988 accused people, who were on the run for several years in different cases, an official statement said on Monday.

All the 3988 persons were arrested following a special drive launched by Odisha Police between March 7 and 14.

The special drive was conducted to execute non-bailable warrants (NBWs) from courts to bring the absconders who were avoiding trial to justice.

Some of the accused persons arrested during this drive were successful evading law and were absconding for years together.

Of the total 3988 non-bailable warrants, Ganjam police has executed a maximum of 452 non-bailable warrants, followed by Kendrapara (307) and Balasore (298).
